NFC Digital Business Card Instructions
1. Set Up Your Digital Profile
Use the Digital Business Card Request form to create or update your profile.
-
Open the digital business card request link provided by University Print & Mail Services.
-
Enter your information, including:
-
Full name
-
Title
-
Department / Unit
-
Phone numbers (work, cell, office, etc.)
-
Email address
-
Website(s)
-
Profile photo
-
-
Submit the form.
After submission, you will receive a confirmation email that includes a link to your digital card.
2. Using Your NFC Card
Your physical NFC card contains a secure URL that opens your digital profile.
To share your information:
-
Ask the recipient to unlock their phone.
-
Tap your NFC card on the back of their phone.
-
iPhone: near the upper back of the device
-
Android: near the center or upper back, depending on the model
-
-
If NFC does not work on their device, the recipient can scan the QR code printed on your card to open the same profile page.
Note: Some older phones or devices with NFC disabled may only work with the QR code.
3. What Recipients Can Do
When your digital profile opens, the recipient can:
-
Tap to call your phone numbers
-
Tap to send you an email
-
Open your website(s)
-
View your department and role
-
Copy, share, or bookmark your profile link
-
Email the link to themselves for later use
No special app is required. Everything works through the standard browser and phone apps.
4. Updating Your Information
Your digital card URL stays the same, even if your information changes.
-
You can request profile updates at any time through University Print & Mail Services.
-
Updates are applied to the digital profile; the physical NFC card does not need to be reprinted unless it is lost or damaged.
5. Tips for Best Performance
-
Hold the card in place for 1–2 seconds when tapping.
-
On some Android phones, NFC may need to be enabled in the device settings.
-
Very thick, metal, or wallet-style phone cases can interfere with NFC reading.
-
Save your personal profile link so you can also share it by text, email, or chat.
